The sky was as dark as a crow, the stars were shining brightly, and the moon was glancing at whoever looked up at the dark sky.
It was very quiet and peaceful at night. But then a noise ruined all the quietness. A loud bang shot up from a house in a neighbourhood.
“Whoops! I didn’t mean to hit a drum. That noise probably went around the neighbourhood. What will mother say when she comes to me?”
It was very sad for her. She woke up her mother, and possibly her father too. What shall she do now? She couldn’t tell a lie, because she knew doing that would do nothing. Her parents are very intelligent and have told her daughter many mysterious and surprising things. She was in very big trouble. What would she do?
“Sally! Sally! What’s all this noise?” cried her mother from the bedroom. She shouted very loud, and it could be heard from across the main hall.
“Sally! Answer me. I know you’re here in the main hall. Sally!”, she cried again.
Sally kept quiet. She knew going to her wouldn’t solve this problem. She had an idea. A very great idea. But she never went there. She never liked it. But she had no other choice but to go there.
She was going to a Haunted House in her neighbourhood.
It was very far away because the neighbourhood was very long. She decided what to do. Would she even go there? She never even knew what secrets hid in the Haunted House.
At last, she decided she will go. It was about 12:48 am at that time this all happened.
She started to get out of the main hall. Her parents were asleep once again, because they were too tired to even get up and get Sally. So they decided to just fall back on bed and sleep. It was very good luck for Sally, because it saved her a lot. But, then, she thought too soon.
“Sally! Sally! Sally! Im coming out this instant!” shouted her mother from across the main hall.
Sally shivered. Her parents weren’t actually asleep!
“Very clever of them,” said Sally. “Trying to make me wait, and then get me? Well, im out sooner than you think!”
And so she went to get her things. She had taken a torch, some food and water, and some batteries to keep the torch up. She started her night walking towards the west. She had a long way to go, so she ate a few biscuits she brought. The whole neighbourhood, or, possibly the whole world was quiet and still! Sally kept on walking, and walking, and walking until she met a very big gate.
She knew she couldn’t knock on the iron gate because that would ruin the peace and quiet again. So she decided to look around the gate. She found a door in the middle of the gate when she reached the back of the house. She tried to turn the handle, but it was locked. She didn’t know where the key was, or, if there even was a key!
She searched for other possible entrances to get through the gate. She found a room in the bushes. Sally went through the bushes and turned the door handle outside the room. It opened. She went inside and found 2 other rooms. She explored both rooms and saw nothing but documents that were piled on shelves.
Sally found stairs leading down, probably to a basement. She went down, and it was pitch black. She turned on her torch and saw five other rooms. She searched through them all, but, when she went into the fifth door, she found another room in it. She went to it, opened its door, and looked inside. Sally saw a table. And that table had three keys!
She picked up all three keys, and she went back the way she came. When she reached to the door at the gate, she tried all the keys in the lock, and, when she put in the last key, turned it, and turned the handle. Would it open? Would it still be locked? Or would she successfully enter through the door?
She did get through the door.
"Phew! I thought I couldn't go in after all." said Sally.
She sat down on the grass for a meal. After she ate, she got up and went to enter the Haunted House. She found a door when she came to the front of the Haunted House. Luckily, it was unlocked. She went inside, and, she looked around. Suddenly, the lights started flickering. And weird noises were coming from throughout the whole house! Sally was very scared. She put in a lot of effort to get here, and now she regrets her decision.
When she turned to go out of the Haunted House, she heard a click. She went to the door she came in from, and, to her surprise, it was closed! It couldn’t possibly be locked, right? But when she turned the handle of the door, it really was locked.
Now she was a prisoner of the Haunted House!
“Help! Help! I don’t want to be stuck in here. Anybody, help!” sobbed Sally.
She couldn’t do anything but go deeper into the mysterious Haunted House. So she went deeper. She went into a room that was named ‘The Forbidden Door’. She didn’t want to go in, but, the only thing that she could do was go deeper and deeper in the Haunted House.
Sally opened the door, and she saw some weird figures. They were all dirty and covered in mysterious acids. Soon she decided she will find the way out.
Sally searched through the whole house and found very interesting things. At last, she found a way out. She found the back door, but it was locked. She soon remembered she still had the key for the door at the gate with her! Would it open this door too? She put the key in the lock, turned it, and turned the handle. The door opened! She ran out and ate a meal on the grass. She ran out of food and only a little water was left. She had a very great time exploring this Haunted House, even tho she was afraid. She had school tomorrow, so she decided to go back home and live a happy life.
The End
